Mentoring and supervision is a key part of a coach’s on-going development, linking in with the ICF’s expectations of being a reflective practitioner.

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines Mentor Coaching as providing professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency demanded by the desired credential level sought by a coach‐ applicant (mentee).
Credentialing candidates or those renewing credentials must complete 10 hours of Mentor Coaching prior to submitting their application, these session may count towards these hours.
Coaching Supervision focuses on the development of the coach’s capacity through offering a richer and broader opportunity for support and development. Coaching Supervision creates a safe environment for the coach to share their successes and failures in becoming masterful in the way they work with their clients. ICF Credential-holders may submit up to 10 hours of Coaching Supervision as core competency Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units toward their credential renewal.
Credentialing candidates or those renewing credentials must complete 10 hours of Mentor Coaching prior to submitting their application, these sessions may count towards these hours.
The Coaching observation consists of submitting a recording of a coaching session for feedback. Receiving in-depth written feedback based on the observed session can increase the coach’s coaching capabilities, aligning with the ICF Core Competencies.
The process is supportive rather than judgemental. The feedback will highlight specific areas of strengths using timestamps for clarity and also identifying key areas for development.
The written feedback can we discussed in a 1 to 1 mentoring session to gain further clarity in a collaborative way.
Any coach not matter their experience would always benefit from Mentoring/ Supervision from time to time.
Regardless of if you are at a stage of Credentialing or Renewal with the ICF, having a safe supportive environment to discuss your coaching practice will always benefit your reflective practice.
Investing in your coaching beyond your initial coach training can be hugely beneficial in your development. Giving yourself time to focus on you and your journey, while you give so much of your time to supporting others in your coaching role.
Starting with a chemistry call we will get to know each other and discuss what you want to get out of mentoring. We will work in a similar way to coaching, working in an ethical space, with confidentiality and establishing agreements on how you would like to work within the relationship.
